Description

NABITA Policy and Government Affairs 101

Date: March 16, 2021

Time: 2:00pm-3:00pm ET

This year NABITA is embarking on exciting territory in having a dedicated advocacy presence in Washington to advance the collective goals of our members to support school climate and student safety. This webinar will focus on our work, specifically:

Update you on NABITA’s policy goals and objectives
  • This includes an in-depth discussion of our signature legislative priority the Behavioral Intervention Guidelines (BIG) Act H.R.3539. The BIG Act is critical legislation for student support and safety as it requires the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to develop best practices for schools to establish a Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT), mandate that schools receive training in BIT best practices, and require technical assistance to assist schools in implementing the best practices
Discuss with our members how we can better support and educate you on policy issues
Brainstorm how we can activate our membership to engage directly with policymakers.

Who should attend:

a. BIT Administrators
b. Deans of Students
c. Principals
d. Counselors
e. Case Managers
f. Vice Presidents of Student Affairs
g. School District Administration
