*Open to the Public!* Talking BITs: K-12 Behavioral Intervention and Threat Assessment Teams: A Proactive Approach to School Safety

Description: Behavioral Intervention and Threat assessment teams are a critical component of a comprehensive school safety plan. This session is designed to provide participants with the skills and knowledge to develop school and district-based behavioral intervention and threat assessment teams for the K-12 setting. Using the National Association for Behavioral Intervention and Threat Assessment (NABITA) Standards, participants will learn about and discuss the essential components and skills needed for K-12 team implementation. Facilitators will discuss the nuances of developing a well-rounded team in the K-12 school setting in partnership with local first responders and other agencies. Participants will leave the conversation able to identify specific action steps to create a behavioral intervention and threat assessment team as well as an understanding of the challenges and benefits of team implementation and sustainability.
