In this Talking BITs, attendees will discuss strategies for providing support to Trans and Non-Binary students as well as explore the overlap between BIT and Title IX when working with this population.

Course Description:

Trans and Non-Binary students face higher rates of discrimination, negative experiences, and potentially violent interactions than their cisgender peers. These experiences can lead to emotional or psychological difficulty, barriers to academic success, suicidal ideation, and more. As administrators, we need to consider the unique challenges this population may face and be prepared to offer support, resources, and options that address these challenges. In this Talking BITs, presenters will discuss strategies for support and intervention as well as explore the overlap between BIT and Title IX responses.

What participants will do in the training:

  • Explore the unique challenges that face Trans and Non-Binary students
  • Learn strategies for providing support and intervention to Trans and Non-Binary students
  • Discuss the overlap between BIT and Title IX
