Talking BITs: The Minds, Lives, and Motivations of Ideological Killers

This webinar begins with a brief review of the justifications cited by perpetrators, as well as a consideration of underlying psychological dynamics. In addition, the concept of protective factors or violence inhibitors is discussed in terms of its utility as well as its limitations. The primary focus of the presentation consists of four cases that will be reviewed to highlight the variability in functioning among perpetrators and the need to look behind superficial accomplishments to detect risk factors for violence.
