Description

Talking BITs: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and the BIT

July 23, 2021 | 2:00pm-3:00pm ET

*Members Only Event

Description: Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) work is not new to higher education, but this past year brought new attention and intensity to our campuses.  This heightened awareness may cause tension among students, staff, and faculty further complicating interactions and potentially causing additional trauma to students.  The effects of racial trauma can lead to emotional or psychological difficulty, barriers to academic success, suicidal ideation, and more.

As administrators, we need to consider how issues related to DEI influence our students and how we can approach our work through a DEI lens to be more aware and provide appropriate resources.  In this Talking BITs, presenters will discuss strategies for support and intervention as well as explore how DEI influences our BIT responses.
