Non-Clinical Assessment of Suicide

Description

Non-Clinical Suicide Assessment

Thursday, September 10, 2020
2pm-3:30pm ET

Join Brian Van Brunt, Ed.D., Dave Denino, LPC, NCC, and Makenzie Schiemann, M.S. as they share with you the creation of the Non-Clinical Assessment of Suicide (NAS). As counselors work more and more in a non-clinical capacity (falling under FERPA), there is an increased need to have an approach to assessment that is easy to use, can be applied consistently, reduces bias, and provides clear direction for next steps in an evidenced-based way. This easy-to-use expert system highlights the process of how to consistently and objectively assess a student at-risk for suicide. Those who attend the training will receive instructions on how to administer the NAS and apply it in their daily practice. They will receive a detailed training guide, a copy of the scoring template, a flowchart overview and will review a sample case study.
